Town of Colonie
the Town of Colonie is located
in the northern part of Albany County. It adjoins the southern-most border
of Schenectady County and is separated from Southern Saratoga County by
the Mohawk River. To the east it is bordered by the Hudson River. Colonie is the
largest suburb of Albany County, covering 57.2 square miles and is home to
approximately 80,000 people.
Colonie is the heartbeat of
the Capital District - just minutes from Albany, Schenectady and Troy. Its
proximity to four major highways, NYS Routes 5 and 7, US Route 9 and
Interstate 87 (the Northway), make Colonie truly close to everYthing. It just 3
hours to Boston, 2-1/2 hours to New York City, 4 hours to Montreal.
Schools
The residents of the Town of
Colonie are served by two school districts - North Colonie Central School and
South Colonie Central School.
The North Colonie district is
comprised of six elementary schools, one junior and one senior high school. The
total population of the district is about 5,400 students.
Shopping
Capital District area offers top
notch shopping, from Crossgates Mall, the area's largest shopping mall to
Colonie Center, Wolf Road Shoppers Park and the many distinctive stores along
Wolf Road, just off Northway Exit 4. There are many outlet stores throughout the
Capital District and within an hour's drive - in Lake George and Lee,
Massachusetts.
